Why was General Qasem Soleimani so hated by the USA?

The ‘Hammer of Isis’ is being mourned by millions across the middle east. Why was he really murdered?

As Craig Murray has pointed out, the word “imminent” was carefully chosen by the US secretary of state when he delcared that the murder of Iranian Major General Qasem Soleimani was justified because he was planning “imminent attacks” on US bases.

Secretary Pompeo was specifically referring to the Bethlehem Doctrine of Pre-Emptive Self Defence – the quasi-legal justification dreamed up by the imperialists’ lawyers when they launched their aggressive war against Iraq.

But this ‘imminent threat to US lives’ narrative was quickly and thoroughly debunked by the media.

NBC reported that President Donald Trump had ordered the killing seven months ago. Meanwhile, Trump himself asserted that “it doesn’t really matter” if there was such a threat or not.

So why was the Iranian general really targeted?
